With rising competition from national and international auto manufacturers in the Indian market Maruti Suzuki has grand plans to introduce new models and also revamp existing popular varieties while phasing out a few old ones. Maruti Suzuki’s existing popular car the Swift Dzire will also undergo a few changes and will be introduced with new additional features. These changes will include LED day lights, refurbished bumper which will be combined with alloy wheels. The new Swift Dzire to be introduced in early 2014 will also be available in hitherto unavailable color of Boost Metallic Pearl Blue color along with existing red and other colors.
Though the basic design of interiors will remain relatively unchanged in 2014 Swift its existing upholstery will be replaced with a plusher version. Sources have also stated that the power window on its driver’s side will have an automatic one touch function. These cosmetic changes notwithstanding, the latest Swift will have the previous petrol and diesel engines. To retain its market share in this category Maruti Suzuki had in the past launched both limited and special editions of the Swift Dzire. This sedan version has been facing stiff competition from Honda’s Amaze sedan car urging Maruti Suzuki to launch its Dzire Regal variant. While the alloy wheels are set to give this car a stylish appearance while the frontal bumper will have a bolder look.
This car has consistently been the highest selling hatchback sedan in this category with recent revamp as Dzire Regal to beat growing popularity of Honda’s cars. It has been a standard practice with Maruti Suzuki to make changes in all Maruti Swift variants whenever the original Swift is re-launched since all have the same platform. Generally changes are made to exterior hatchback’s body by making bumpers more elongated or redesigning the doors to increase or decrease space of its interiors. As the Maruti Suzuki Swift is going to be re-launched with Day Time Lights and alloy wheels the company decided to introduce similar design changes in the Swift DZire model as well.
Rising competition coupled with depression in financial markets has seen most auto makers suffering from declined sales in past couple of years in both national and international markets. Since Maruti Suzuki is investing a sizeable amount in developing utility vehicles to break its reputation as a maker of budget cars, it needs to come up with clever manufacturing and marketing strategies to maintain its position as market leader in India. The new Swift Dzire to be launched in 2014 will therefore attempted to bring back customers lost to Honda and Ford’s sedan cars which are more fuel efficient than the Swift Dzire. When it was first launched the Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire was able to break sales records of Maruti Alto but later fell back due to competition from international players. Maruti Suzuki is planning to recreate the past magic of Swift Dzire by improving exterior design and appearance along with engine performance without spending much on research and development.
