With this announcement Datsun brand is coming back into the market after a period of over 32 years targeting the entry level car segment in the country.
It is surely going to be a competitor in the Maruti Alto series as the pricing is going to be pitched below 4 Lakhs with unique features looking more like the Jaguar cars. Some of the features are borrowed from Micra though Datsun is developed entirely on a new platform. Just like Micra it also has good interior space for 5 passengers considering the exterior dimensions.
The car is built with a length of 3,785mm, a width of 1,635 and a height of 1,485mm with a front bumper and large head lights that fall in the line of the Micra. The interiors look awesome with the cabin having door holds similar to Micra, three spoke steering wheel, digital tripmeter, power windows and manual AC.
Just like in Hyundai i10 the gear level is dash-mounted offering comfortable leg space in the front seats. Datsun GO shall come with the 1.2litre petrol motor adopted from Micra with five speed manual transmission. Datsun has all features to make the car an urban model and lure the first time buyers in this segment.
With both Alto 800 K10 and Datsun Go targeting the same customers there definitely arises comparisons between both the cars and as of now Alto is enjoying demand in the segment and we have to see how the picture turns out once Datsun Go is also ready to hit the roads.
