Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL), the leading car producer in the fast growing Indian car market is contemplating to launch four new Sports Utility Vehicles (SUVs) over the next couple of years. The Indo-Japanese auto major is all set to make a blast of an entry into the Indian SUV market with some vital releases. The company is planning to launch a crossover variant of the SX4 sometime in the year 2014. Maruti Suzuki is also developing a brand new SUV called the XA Alpha, which is expected to be introduced by 2015. This XA Alpha concept car was first introduced back at 2012.
Apart from these two releases, the auto giant is said to be working full-fledged on a sub-4 metre Vitara as well as a SUV version of the extremely popular Swift Dzire. All these fresh launches are targeted to capture the fast growing SUV segment in the Indian auto market.
In the growing car market of India, several car makers are ready to spread their bait, as Renault has already hit the bull’s eye with its ultra successful launch Duster compact SUV. The Renault Duster is certainly one SUV that will turn its rivals into dust with jealousy. Renault has found out the secret mantra that works behind the success of the Duster, it has made the car just big enough and cheap enough in order to make it sell like hot cakes in the Indian market. Just launched in July 2012, the Duster has sold more than any of other Renault cars in India, in the entire year of 2012.
India seems to be a paradise for the Sports Utility Vehicles as Indian car buyers bought 57 percent more SUVs in the first 10 months of the financial year as per the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers data. The SUV market has been such a great ground for growth that it made every auto maker rush to manufacture new SUVs for the domestic market.
Other car giants such as the Indian auto major, Mahindra & Mahindra which has recently launched its premium SUV Rexton from the SsangYong portfolio on 28th Jan 2013, is also studying the Indian market to find an appropriate time to launch yet another SUV Korando from the SsangYong kitty. Rexton in the meanwhile is making record sales in the market. The major Mahindra SUV releases from the recent past have recorded such huge sales that the company had to pump up its production capacities of these best selling brands, namely XUV 500, Quanto and Rexton. Mahindra hopes to bring down the waiting period for these popular products by increasing the production capacity for these three products and thereby make its customers happy by getting early deliveries of their products. Moreover, Mahindra has also facilitated the booking procedure for these brands available across more centres in India, so that more people can access a nearby centre.
Maruti Suzuki India is thus, doing the right thing in getting all braced up to launch as many SUVs as possible in the Indian auto market, to ensure its growth and success.Maruti Suzuki has four SUV tricks up its sleeve for a pleasant surprise,
